    Dear godefduistz:

Although I am not sure what your comment is, I appreciate the fact that merchants like you are interested in hearing about fascinating subjects such as merchant card processing, pci – compliance and other merchant related issues.

    Have a great weekend.

I have a strange question, haven’t found the answer yet by Googling. I have been buying prescription for both my cats and myself at a compounding pharmacy for some years. They take my cc# over the phone, and mail me the scrips. Now they say that can no longer do that, that the cc must be presented on site! They would have to pay a $1000 deposit (to B of A) to get this changed. This is a small one shop reputable operation. They have been in business for (I think) about 18 years. Where would I find the rules about this? And does he have other options that wouldn’t cost him so much? Thank you.

    Mariel,

I guess I need you to be a little more clear as to exactly what you mean?

I’m going to take a stab at the way you framed your question:

If you read all my articles on PCI compliance that are on merchantmaven.com you will see that it is important for merchants to abide by specific rules to ensure that credit card data is safe. A breach in security can have a devastating affect.

Some companies have failed to do this, including TJ Maxx and Heartland Payments for example.
So this is why merchants are no longer able to process your data, or hold on to data the way they have in the past.

Let me know if this is what you were asking.

    Regards,
